| Description of the problem | The seat belt latch plates (the parts that insert into the buckles) for the rear seat retracted into the interior paneling, preventing the occupant from being able to use the seat belt. (refer to similar recall # 18v177000). Although there was a recall for the same issue, my vin was not included. I was ultimately able to fix it on my own by fishing it out from the interior panel with my fingers which was difficult to do. It is not clear how it happened, but we think it was after the rear seat was down and when it was returned to it's normal position it pushed the latch plate into the interior. We contacted our local mb dealership and were told nothing could be done since the vin was not on the recall even though we had the same exact issue as the recall. |
